Monday was such a hard day!
I think my heart broke a little on the drive over to my babysitter's house.
When I arrived, I took a deep breath and knocked on the door - baby bag, activity mat, and Leighton in tow. Little Emily (age 2) greeted us (with her mom) and said:
"hi. baby. bink."
I knew everything would be ok from that moment.
I knew everything would be ok from that moment.
I left that morning, called Jon, cried, and drove the rest of the way to work.
Work had a special "Welcome Back Breakfast", and they showered me with:
..."so glad to have you back"
..."it'll get easier, I promise"
..."your patients ask about you all the time"
..."your patients are so excited to have you back"
(that was so nice...the beauty of an all female office, I suppose...)
I visited Leighton at lunch - a couple smiles and coos - just enough to get me through the afternoon. I finished with my last patient and charting at 4pm...and couldn't wait to pick her up.
I brought her back home, fed her and had some very special Mommy and Leighton time. She was exhausted (...so was I) from such a big day...

Thank you to everyone who sent a text, left a voicemail, wrote an email, or called to comfort me...I have the most amazing husband, family and friends ever!

Day 2 was easier - Leighton was with Grandma! Still cried, though!
Day 3 was almost tear free...I had tomorrow to look forward to!
Day 4 is tomorrow - it's my day off - yea!! We are going to play all day!
Day 5 is the following day and will complete my first week back...ugh!
