Well, the foot x-ray was repeated and the "suspicious for fracture" statement is now "normal with no evidence of fracture line".
What does that gibberish mean?
Well, since its been 2 weeks since the injury, if her foot was actually fractured, it would have started healing/calcifying...and calcium shows up beautifully on x-rays. That expected calcification was NOT there, which means it was never fractured! Such good news!
You always have to err on the side of caution with baby feet and growth plates, so the 2 weeks in the boot was worth it...and it really relieved her pain to be able to ambulate and walk around by herself.
But, no more! Boot is gone, and Leighton is running (as I type) without a stitch of difficulty.
Children are amazingly resilient!
